MPACT staff help Women’s Aid make Christmas merrier for local Lothian families

Christmas will be just a little bit brighter for some of the most vulnerable families in Scotland this year thanks to the big-hearted employees and management of a fast-growing and multiple award-winning Edinburgh building services company.

The 65 staff at MPACT – including managers, office staff, site staff and apprentices – have collected a cornucopia of gifts which will be handed out by the company’s charity partner, Women’s Aid East and Mid Lothian.

In the run-up to the festive season, MPACT’s festive elves have gathered together virtual sack loads of toys, gift boxes, chocolates, household items, cosmetics and games to bring a real sparkle to Christmas morning.

Each of the 26 key workers at Women’s Aid will identify five of the most vulnerable families on their client lists and unwrap an unexpected Christmas bonus for them, courtesy of the MPACT staff’s generosity.

Yvonne Irvine, of Women’s Aid East and Mid Lothian, said: “Our thanks go out to everyone at MPACT for thinking of other people at this time of year and putting so much effort into their charity initiatives.

“This will bring a big smile to a lot of faces in the local area who otherwise might have had a much less festive season.”

Claire Wright, Director at MPACT, said: “Our staff are amazing. Their support and donations speak volumes and it makes us feel very proud to know the type of kind-hearted employees we have.

“We chose Women’s Aid because we knew our donations would make a real difference. We are a family run business and we know how important family is. It is heart breaking to think of the women and children who are in a less fortunate position at this time.”

MPACT has previously supported Women’s Aid in Edinburgh and decided this year to keep it local and give something back to the community.  It is now committed to supporting Women’s Aid each Christmas in this way.

The company, which has a strong corporate social responsibility agenda, has won a number of awards within the electrotechnical industry in Scotland, most recently in October this year when it was chosen by trade body SELECT as 2018’s Best Large Contractor.

The award illustrated MPACT’s remarkable growth trajectory. In both 2011 and 2012, it was also a SELECT awards winner – in the Best Small Contractor category, for companies with turnover of less than £250,000. The Large Contractor category is for enterprises whose sales exceed £1 million.

MPACT, which was founded in 2007, is widely regarded as being representative of all that is best in the electrotechnical sector, combining a strong growth strategy and a refreshing can-do attitude.

The company also takes great pride on the work it does with its employees to ensure their physical and mental wellbeing.
